Ok,

So my interest in all this is calling Crystal Reports (that I have designed) from within a compiled VFP application that I will be distributing. It sounds like you are saying the "RDC" based approach will no longer work. Do you know what approach will work (if any)?

Also, do you know the last version of Crystal Reports that did support the RDC based approach you outlined in your book? (That apparently used Crystal Reports 9).

>Visual FoxPro has not been a supported development platform for sometime. If the RDC has been deprecated, it means that no COM-based application can use the new version. That includes VB6.

>>Got some disconcerting news from Crystal tech support. It appears Foxpro is no longer supported in CR 2008 and a .NET solution is required. I'm going to try to call them for clarification. See below:

>>I understand that you would like to integrate a report which created in Crystal Reports 2008 in Visual Foxpro 9.0 application. But you get the following error while executing your application:

>>“Cannot instantiate CrystalRuntime.Application”
>>
>>Next Steps:
>>
>>Please note that, Visual Foxpro is not supported platform for creating application with Crystal Reports 2008. RDC (CRAXDRT) has been deprecated with Crystal Reports 2008. We would have to create an application using .NET SDK with Crystal Reports 2008. .NET SDK is the only SDK which supported for developing applications with Crystal Reports 2008. I suggest you to refer the following link for supported platforms for Crystal Reports 2008:

>>BTW, not sure what "deprecated" means in this context. According to the dictionary, deprecated means to "depreciate or belittle". Doesn't sound good.
