I'm working on a VFP application that has to coexist with a Clipper app. so I'm using local views in VFP for accessing the Clipper free tables.

Occasionally in VFP I'd like to just open a free table, update a field, and close the file. What I've discovered though is that Clipper and VFP don't seem to recognize each other's record or file locks (i.e. using rlock() or flock()). When a free table is locked by VFP I can edit it in Clipper and vice versa.

The Clipper app. relies on being able to determine a record's lock status. Am I taking the wrong approach to having these systems coexist?

TIA
