Perhaps I didn't wait long enough, but VS2008 is now installed.

>I thought my install was hung on the 3.5 step, because the progress indicator sat on it for at least 10 minutes. So I left it running went to the grocery. Came back and it had completed sucessfully. Must be something really hard about that step.
