Joel,

Use the SQLStringConnect() function to create connections, or the CONNSTRING clause when using remote views.

Check out http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~VFPCommandSQLStringConnect for further details.

A good idea is to encrypt the connection string into an ini file or similar so you can have a different one at each site. It also means you can include a View-only DBC inside your app if you use remote views.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
