The only thing to be salvaged from this debacle is that heads will roll and new people brought in (I hope). Plus maybe something will be done about the number of imported players in the Premier League. We used to seem to have an endless supply of decent goalkeepers and now even that seems to have deserted us. I don't blame the keeper at all by the way single mistakes happen and a decent team copes with them. England should have been easily able to qualify in that group. I feel sorry for the Scats who nearly managed to qualify in a much more difficult group.

>>>Yes, I heard the contract of the coach has been terminated immediately. Poor lad. But maybe he got a lot of money from a Russian guy. I also understand that the Croatians will get Mercedeses?! How about your goalkeeper? Maybe he too was in for some money?

>>McClaren apparently will get 2.5 million to leave his contract. He refused to resign which would have left him without compensation. It beats me why these contracts don't have break clauses written into them at the end of qualification for Europe or the World Cup to say if you don't qualify the contract can be ended.

>There can be anything in a contract, so I guess else he would have refused to take the job. I understand even the new coach will now gonna be imported? Let's see, who's free. Maybe Hiddink (did Korea and Australia, now Russia), or else Beenhakker (did Mexico, now Poland), or else Advocaat (signed for Autralia, but he stays in Russia). You might ask Martin Jol.

Favourites here at the moment are Martin O'Neill or Jose Mourinho. Do you really think McClaren wouldn't have taken the contract at 2.5 million per year if it had a break clause in it. I don't think so. He should have done the decent thing and fallen on his sword.
