All this reminds me of the joke about the diplomat's new wife...

The newlyweds are invited to their first consulate party together. The wife is concerned she'll seem silly if they're all talking about secret political stuff she never heard of. Husband says to just listen out for stuff she does know and feel free to comment; of course people will listen and include her in the conversation after that. So, lots of intrigue and diplomacy later the wife is feeling lost, until she hears a Cypriot diplomat asking "What do you think of the latest issues about Turkey and Greece?" At which point the wife pipes up "Oh, that's easy: baste the turkey lightly and cook in on a ridged tray. That way you don't have to worry about the grease."

Groan, I know... but sort of in context.

Happy Thanksgiving all!
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
