My preference is LCD, absolutely no doubt about it. I wouldn't have a plasma TV, unless I got paid to receive it. And even then, I would most likely have sold it anonymously.

Plasma has two major disadvantages:
1. They have a limited life time. I am in this business, and I know that this is a much bigger problem in practice than the companies will admit.
2. They are vulnerable to "burn in", meaning that pictures can become permanent on the screen. This typically happens with the logos the TV companies put on the screen. In Norway most TV stations move their logo around between the programs to help avoid this. The fact that they do so, is itself a proof that this is a big problem.

>I have another question on this issue. Which TV type preferring in USA? LCD or plasma?

>Pioneer claims plasma is better and Sony claims LCD. Turkey market is premature yet. We don't know so much about it. Like you said I newly beginned see FULL HD. That's mean HD Ready was a cheat... >:(

>You're so lucky. Cheapest 42" LCD and plasma TVs for about 1500-2000$ there yet...

>>Well, I've got it narrowed down to two different HD TVs....
>>
>>Found one for $549 (if I get to the local store at 5 AM tomorrow). It's an Olevia 37 inch, HDMI, 1080 widescreen. Amazon ratings are good, average of 4 out of 5. (normally lists for 799)
>>
>>Then I found a really nice one from Sharp, a 42 inch, HDMI, goes for $799. Ratings are almost perfect. (normally lists for 1499)
>>
>>I'm not a big TV expert (basically, I just want HD to watch sports events in HD!) ;)
>>
>>Is the extra $250 worth it? I don't follow brands, so I really don't know if Brand 'A' is much better than Brand 'B'
>>
>>Thanks,
>>Kevin
