>>So now we know when we went “commercial” and the importance of Thanksgiving. Now about so called “Black Friday”? That term seems to have begun in the 1970’s. How many people stood outside of a store at 4 AM to “enjoy the specials of the day”? I like to avoid all crowds and stay from shopping malls this time of the year! :)

>Not me. I make it a point to avoid stores that day. I did go to the kosher bakery for challah and because I needed rolls and bread for lunch, to another store around the corner from there.

I do not under any circumstances go near any store the day after Thanksgiving. I am not a a big shopper to begin with, and especially not that day. One year I went to Wal-Mart to buy a TV they were blowing out the doors, for the van, and it was gruesome. There were probably 50 women there waiting for the doors to open, elbows out, grim expressions on their faces. You better not get in their way.
Dan Freeman said something brilliant once that I totally agree with. (Have you talked to him lately, BTW? I have not heard boo from him). "I don't go shopping, I go buying." LOL
