I just can't imagine having one around. Why, years ago nearly every average household here had a chip-fryer (as in fries) but I haven't seen one for years. People buy oven fries now and no-one wants the stinking pan hanging permanently around the stove.

I went to my mom's farm yesterday and there was a traditional "baked" turkey. After eating the deep fried turkey, it was like eating cotton. The meat is so dry, you have to have some gravy with it!
