>I do like: country, western, bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock (no acid rock), folk, jugband, classical, and gospel. Currently, my favorite artists are all old school. I am getting the new Eagles CD for Christmas, and looking forward to seeing James Taylor and Lyle Lovett again soon. Lyle plays some of the most diversified stuff of anyone, from gospel to jazz, to blues, to folk, to bluegrass.

I never got into country - probably a cultural thing having grown up in New York City.

My first exposure to classical was a radio show called "Encores in Stereo" back in the eary 60's. No boring full-length symphonies (although I will listen to Beethoven's 3rd 5th and 9th any time I can). Plenty of opera overtures, marches, fast movements, etc. I don't much like opera, but I have a CD of "The best of the 3 tenors" which is phenomenal. I think an equivalent "best of the Sopranos" would drive me up a wall. I think of the tenor voice as an instruement, but the soprano as fingernails on a blackboard.

I don't know much about jazz but my wife likes it and I enjoy it as background music.

There was a TV show called Micky Finn's back in the 60's (I think) which was a weekly show about Dixiland. I really enjoyed it then and still do, but only for short periods of time.

I crank up my Three Tenors CD whenever I pull up next to somebody blasting (C)Rap at 400 DB. From the reactions, they hate it more than I hate (C)Rap - although I still find that hard to believe.
