If any other exe is started from the elevated exe it is also run elevated. This is causing a problem because drive mappings are lost etc. Are you aware of this and do you know how to start an exe unelevated from an elevated exe?

Yes, I'm aware of that. I know there's a way to launch an EXE as the original user from an elevated EXE (Inno Setup 5.2 supports this so you can launch your app after installing it), but I haven't researched exactly how to this yet.
