There's also the possibility of outputting a copy of it as XML, but its memos need to be marked as binary first. The XML would then be just text, but still any code inside the dbc would be accompanied with its binary form, the embedded fxp, which may cause false positives when checking for differences between versions.

OTOH, the gendbc generated code has its limitations.
