The Event Object: Entity Mediation At Work was originally published in the October 1997 issue of FoxPro Advisor Magazine ... event objects are one part of The Five Object Architecture that I have adopted. The follow up article, Empower Your Users to Adapt Business Rules, published in the August 1998 issue of FoxPro Advisor illustrates a VFP implementation of The Domain Object.

Both The Entity Object and the Domain Object are two components missing from Codebook that were required to bring it into conformance with The Five Object Architecture (TFOA).

I did not come up with TFOA, I simply created two of the missing objects for Codebook using VFP ... Codebook already had The Entity Object (read business object) and Interface Objects (read controls and forms, etc.). The remaining object, The Participant Object, is not very important for development ... just analysis and design.

The people who are responsible for inventing and publishing their findings on TFOA are Dan Tasker and Barbara von Halle. They published the following three articles in the magazine, Database Programming and Design ...

The Objects Explosion, April 1995
Where the Wild Things Are, May 1995
An Object for Everyone, June 1995.

These articles are rather old but their information is not. If you are interested, drop me an eMail ... or reply to this message, give me your address and I'll mail you a copy of the three articles. This way, you can read, from the original authors about The Five Object Architecture, then examine the two VFP specific articles, and then compare how it begins to evolve.

Plus, I have a full implementation of the domain object that I'll send you as well. The August 1998 article only talked about table based validation ... there is much more to it.
