CR 11 will work, provided it's the Developer edition. DO NOT INSTALL CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008. Business Objects has removed all COM-based APIs. CR8 had an older API that was troublesome. Older versions do not run side by side. This was fixed with either CR 9 or 10. It sounds like the installer is the issue and an older version of CR was installed that put in older APIs that are not compatabile with what you're doing.

>well - there is crystal reports 11 installed on the box - I *think* the activex viewer is version 8.5 but I dont know for sure. I'm wondering if I need to downgrade the cr11 to 8.5 or 9.0 ???
>I'm installing the activex with a file called npviewer.exe - and I dont recall where we got that from. The properties of the install file say version 8.0.0.2, product name is "Report Viewer Plugin" - so now I'm more confused...ha
>I also just ran across this: http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/FilesAndUpdates/cr90actxwin_en.zip.asp ...which of course won't install becuase it cant find registered product - which I assume means cr9.

>>>Nope, still gives me the same problem. I did check the event viewer and saw this is happening when I try to do the install:

>>>The description for Event ID ( 34401 ) in Source ( Crystal_regsvr32 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: .
