I think starting five or so years ago when people who were very accomplished fox developers were saying "Looks like MS is throwing Fox under the bus" there was a wave of denial ( "hey, let's buy VFP from MS", "hey, let's protest and show MS they can't push us around", "hey, we can put on a show, the girls can make the costumes, the boys can make the scenery..." ) <g>

And often pointing out that the future of VFP did not include growth in job opportunities etc was greeted with charges that this analysis was in itself the cause of the problem.

I am not saying everyone ( like myself ) who continued to be quite productive and happy with VFP fell into this camp, just that fear causes people to look for villains. You have to be careful what you say, lest you be considered disloyal to The Fox.

And that's when the auto de fes begin <s>

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
