If you judge a man's value by his enemies, clearly JVP was a mighty fellow. ;-)
JVP and I disagreed about a lot of things- that VFP's data access is "lousy", that RVs are only useful for po-dunk apps, that SPs are always best, that ADO is sensible for data access from VFP... and one time he directed some fairly remarkable comments at me that caused him some grief... but I can imagine his "without fear or favor" commentary on some recent events and find that I almost miss the man.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
