Don't you think that the whole III (illegal immigration issue) is a huge stinky red herring? The magic of outsourcery has taken far more jobs, not to mention the jobs which were not created in the first place. The whole reversal of the last 70 years of safety nets and civil rights (and putting Social Security into private pockets was just the start), and generally the American capitalism getting under its own influence is what has eroded the standard and pretty much removed the middle class from the scene. III is just the scapegoat at hand.
