>>>And how much of a percentage is the under-the-table compared to those where the employer just uses ANY SSN he's given and doesn't want to know whether it's real or not. Just having a SSN on file is sufficient deniability for any employer - "hey, we can't check them all, it's just too much, I'm no expert to know which one is a fake". Those who pay mostly under the table are the worst scum of the Earth, and... are you suggesting they are a vast majority?

>>Again, I've already said - and in this thread too - that the companies should be severely penalized. You seem to insist that I'm not aware of this side of the equation. If you feel so strongly about that part of this issue, start a thread on it. I'm sure that the individual illegal alien side will popup in that one as well.

>Please, try to read only what I wrote in this message, not elsewhere. The point here was that we DO NOT KNOW how many of illegals are getting paid under the table, and how many under fake or stolen SSNs. We can't even make assumptions, not about any numbers.

>I am just guessing that it's more convenient to pay them under a fake SSN and that probably the majority of employers do that. Which, I agree we're both aware of, is bad, but paying them under the table (Serbian: "under wheat") is just much worse.

Why do you nitpick stuff so much? I know language is your forte (and bane, I think), but who cares? Majority, minority, some, all, none, any... I think what you say in other posts, especially those in related threads, is important. Are you a different person from one message to the next? I doubt it.
