There is somebody close to me that is original from another country. He came over here years ago legally, works hard, stays out of trouble, pays his taxes, and is a pretty good person.

He told me a few months ago that he was having some issues with his legality because a lawyer screwed something (didn't sign something or submit something on time). He said there was a 50/50 chance he would be deported in the next six months. I don't know squat about any of the jargon so I can't give any more specifics.

He is working two jobs (one being hard, manual labor where he works 80 hours a week in the busy part of the year, the other being a flexible part-time job), living very modestly, and most of his money is going towards legal fees.

He is trying, and trying hard. He is a guy that I would allow and be proud of marrying my sister (figure of speech). It breaks my heart that he is being jerked around like this, but he is prepared to live with the consequences.

It really ticks me off that it is so hard for people who genuinely want to be Americans.

It also ticks me off that it is so easy for people who are trying to cheat the system.
Very fitting: http://xkcd.com/386/
