I have to admit that I found his final statement particularly telling:

"Mexican immigration is a unique, disturbing, and looming challenge to our cultural integrity, our national identity, and potentially to our future as a country."

That is a huge difference. Canada sees itself as a system of very diverse cultures and national identities. It appears that he feels the U.S. should remain oddly untainted.

It appears that there is a bit of misdirection going on here. When you look into the sorts of 'major' crimes the illegals excel in, they mostly consist of illegal immigration and other immigration related crimes. That's hardly surprising. That's like saying that more jaywalkers get jaywalking tickets than non jay walkers.

Yes they are over represented in relation to legal citizens in other sorts of crimes (drug dealing etc) too, but that also is sort of axiomatic considering their economic and legal status. People will do what it takes to survive. Survival is a about the biggest motivator there is. Survival is, after all, why there are there in the first place.

And yes, I do believe that people who commit real crimes like selling cocaine, robbery, assault, murder, etc should feel the full weight of the law when caught, and if that is or includes deportation then so be it.
