>And, paraphrasing Ben Franklin, "those who would trade their liberty for security, deserve neither.". It's people with this attitude that have curtailed our rights to own guns, our right to smoke in our houses, our right to ride a bicycle without a helmet, ...ad nauseum. Quit mandating what's right for someone else based on what you think is correct. Live your life how you wish, but give others the same benefit.

I mentioned before how I grew up - with guns and ammo always available. So did everybody else in my area (honestly, probably around 90%). How many accidental shootings/deaths happened? I honestly can't remember one, and I lived in a small town where everybody knows everybody and everyone. I still live close, and still haven't heard of any. I haven't heard of any BEFORE my time either.

I posted a story a few months ago about a car load of druggies cruising around some podunk gravel roads in the area. They went into the ditch. They walked to the nearest farm house owned by an older man and his wife. They knocked on the door and told the guy they needed to borrow his truck to get back into town. The farmer said no. The druggies forced themselves into the house, killed the man, and took his truck. That HAPPENED. If he had some sort of gun available, he might not have gotten to it in time, but it would have given him some chance, instead of a 0% chance.
