Thanks Jim. This is exactly what I was hoping for. I want to design my forms so that initially they may be used with FoxPro 2.x free tables and later down the road, when the transition to VFP is complete, they may *easily* be converted to VFP tables.

Thus if I create views for each of the free tables and relate them in the forms, the fields of each of the views will have the same fieldnames as their respective free tables, and it will be a simple matter of just changing the views to VFP tables when we're ready.

Does this make sense?
