>>Do you remember when we were watching the beginning of the fall of Ceauşescu, when Rade Brankov was reporting from the rebels' HQ in Timişoara, and two of the guys bring in a captured Securitate agent, parade him in front of the camera, and one of the guys just accidentally pulls the trigger and fires a couple of bullets into his foot. Seeing that live was one of the major TV events in my life :).

>True, that as in 1963. But I did see it.
Next one was from the moon (not mr Moon), and then which one was next? They seem to be so few and far between one can actually remember them.
The nature of the TV as a medium (as per McLuhan) is in its capability to convey the content as it happens, live. The other important trait is that it brings the content into your homes. So we have this possibility of seeing what's going on out there as it happens. Nowadays we don't even see olympics as they happen, it's rehashed when it's finished, so we don't waste expensive airtime enjoying the wait between events that the audience at the stadium does. Maybe NASCAR is actually live? Is there anything on TV that may happen accidentally and uncontrollably that we may have a chance seeing really LIVE?
