>>>You seem to have at least a couple of serious problems with that rebuilt machine, and you've spent a bunch of time trying to fix them.
>>
>>I found it this week by coicidence. We had a severe storm. So, the power went down for several flashes of second. Everything I have is on the power APC device. However, the Linksys was not. I don't know why. I just discovered that that night. So, I changed it. But, this has caused my Internet connection to go down. So, when I tried to reactivate it, I was not able to. Then, I found that all my settings in the Linksys were gone. After I setup everything back, everything went back to normal. What happened this summer was probably the same thing and the setting was changed for some kind for reason making PC connected with wire to the Linksys to go down after exactly 12 hours. After a few days, it works.

>Assuming we're talking about a router, one I can highly recommend is the Linksys WRT-54GL (note the "L" at the end). Take that device and replace its firmware with the free/open source dd-WRT and you have a rock-solid, highly capable router. I have these in heavy use at half a dozen clients and have never, not once, had any trouble with any of them. If your current router is giving you any kind of trouble just replace it with one of these - best $70 you'll ever spend.

In addition to what Al says, I have 2 WRT-54G (v. 4 or under) running the open source firmware Tomato. I have one acting as a bridge to another. It works really well.
Very fitting: http://xkcd.com/386/
