Sun has been singing this tune, and variations on it for eons. They don't exactly rule the computing world.Agreed- the planets have not been in alignment. But it's getting closer.
Seriously, had there been cheap/free wifi, cheap broadband and close-range connectivity via bluetooth or similar back in the early 1980s when solid-state devices ruled the personal computer space and big-iron ruled business, don't you agree that the IT world would be entirely different?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
