>That's a pretty deep reply. Thanks for the comments. Only one point--I really liked my math teachers and I'm glad they were taught us ingrates *bg*. OTOH, I really "see" your desire for visibility (If you'll forgive the horrible pun). BTW, my equivelent expression for "selling fog" is "vaporware." If I understand correctly :-))
Right on the spot. Though, the original expession covers trying to pass on any kind of bluff - false pretenses, big stories of success, rich widow hunters and anything of the kind. Well, the meaning of "vaporware" could be extended as well. Nice shot.
>As for what feeds intuition...I dunno. Do you suppose there's a gene for hunches?
Maybe just a gene for the ease of triggering them, but it may be achieved by training, who knows. IMHO, intuition is just a background process, when you brain works quicker than you can mentally follow - and here comes the idea. But it didn't come out of the thin air, it came from your accumulated knowledge, and the processing abilities of your mind. Intuition may simply mean letting it do its job "unmanned", without specific command or plan. At least that's the feeling I get when it works for me. I don't mind if this theory is wrong, as long as I keep getting lightbulbs... er, ideas.
