Been there, done that - twice. Last week, bought another laptop (for my wife), and after eliminating any Dells (never liked the keyboard layout, and if they're so cheap on support, where else did they try to save), HP (already got one and they offered only the Vista and actually played the dirty old rebate scam on me), I eliminated anything that had the Vista on it, and bought a slick fast Toshiba with XP on it.

And the only reason we bought it now and not later is that we weren't sure we'd have a choice later.
