Just a plug for what has to be one of the best things that's *ever* been on TV
Saving Grace finished its first 12 episode season last night.
If you've never seen it, look for it on DVDs or re-runs. TNT is rerunning The Closer ( another fine show, but more formulaic ) so they will probably do the same with Grace. Holly Hunter is stunning. Lara SanGiacammo has a scene out in a field in the second last episode that just burns into your brain.
Ernie Kovacs said Television is a medium because it is neither rare nor well-done.
It was pretty true when he said it. I'm very pleased it is becoming less rare that something is really well-done.
( oh, and watching Holly Hunter reminds me why I find the mannered, one-note performances of David Caruso and Keifer Sutherland unwatchable )

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
