>I have to make a decision by tomorrow to buy one mobile scanner to scan barcodes for our shipping department. I sure would like to have FoxPro be the code and the database I use but I don't know how to make that work on a Windows CE 5.0 scanner. I suppose that isn't possible? If not, any other ideas on software that can make prompts and produce either a table, spreadsheet, or text file as output after scanning maybe 20 stands of wire.

I have one client with Symbol SPT-1800 Palm OS scanners, I think they are discontinued, but they where a great choice, have been in use for at least four years and none of them broke yet.

Now Symbol is owned by Motorola, I can't even find a category for mobile handheld scanners in their site...

I used NSBASIC for Palm OS to develop software for the scanners. Easy, cheap, and works.

I guess you could try NSBASIC/CE and see how it goes. You can download a demo, or just go ahead and buy it, its only $150,00
