All users should hav a different computer name

Have recently installed Citrix fo one of my clients in NY - whilst it works well I have the following comments

1. Any references to tables on the user's C drive nust be changed as a user has no C drive under Citrix - we had to change a massive app from C: to T: (a network share per user) but using Gofish it was quite painless

2. Citrix is a pain with non-standard printers - we use thermal label printer and dot matrix Air Weigh Bill printers and Citrix could not cope with the printer settings in the VFP reports - in the end I had to resort to set printer on prompt and issue print line commands by ? and then eject page - like going back to the days of the Ark

3. Citrix is expensive per seat - about $500 per seat per annum if I remember

We are now planning to replace Citrix with G0-Global (www.graphon.com) - which handles the printers with no problem and is about $300 per seat per annum

Citrix product are expensive - you're paying for the name - we have recently also replaced Citrix gotomypc connections with Logmein which is a vastly superior product

>I have a proposal for an installation of my application where the customer will be using citrix. The way the application is built the only way this can work without code changes is if each user appears to have a different network computer name (i.e. result of SYS(0) call). The reason for the conundrum is because in a typical LAN environment there is a configuration file uniquely identified by the computer name. When a user runs the program the configuration for their workstation is opened exclusively. If all the users who log in via Citrix have the same network computer name then only one person at a time could work. I guess the upside is they would have really really good performance.
