>I have to make a decision by tomorrow to buy one mobile scanner to scan barcodes for our shipping department. I sure would like to have FoxPro be the code and the database I use but I don't know how to make that work on a Windows CE 5.0 scanner. I suppose that isn't possible? If not, any other ideas on software that can make prompts and produce either a table, spreadsheet, or text file as output after scanning maybe 20 stands of wire.

I wrote a barcode scanning app in .NET Compact Framework 2.0 for Windows Mobil 5.0 and Windows Mobil 6.0. The app stored all the data in a dataset and allowed export to MS Excel (export to other formats would be relatively simple). My app supported two different devices with built in barcode scanner, and also 3rd party scanners that acted as keyboard extensions.
First you have to choose your platform (Palm or Windows Mobile). Then you have to choose a device to use. I don't think VFP will run on any handheld OS.
Usually devices with builtin barcode scanners come with some sort of sample application that scan and store barcodes.

Another option would be to buy a USB barcode scanner, write an app in VFP, buy a laptop/tablet.
