Oh, so you are suggesting to use non-structural CDX files. That may work. I tend to confuse "CDX" with "structural index" (the always-open CDX file that has the same base name as the table), since that is usually the only one I use.

I suppose, then, that these temporary CDX file would have no problems with transactions, etc.?
