>>Will you be using Views in VFP? If not, then just use the FP2.x tables, along with their indexes, and don't bother with the views except where a parameterized view or view linking table information is necesssary<<

Hi Barbara...

I'm currently rewriting my company's 2.x mail order application in VFP5. I want to mix these new programs into the old 2.x environment. Later, when all of the 2.x programs have been rewritten, I want to changeover to VFP Database Tables. I'm looking for the best way to make this later changeover as painless as possible while taking advantage of the new VFP environment. I don't want to have to rename all of the datasources in my forms, reports, etc., etc., and change tons of programming code when I make the final changeover.

Prior to this discussion, I was planning on using free 2.x tables in my forms. However, several forum members have made a strong case for using the VFP database container now by using Views to the 2.x tables. This is what I'm hoping to achieve. I see that this can be done, but I'm just trying to figure out how.

Your thoughts about this would be appreciated.
