ActiveX controls in VFP
Dennis, I worked with the Digital Persona SDK for a couple of years and actually had one of their developers help to make the product more VFP compatible. It was not the easiest to work with, and in the end I found it became unusably slow after I had more than 100 registered prints that it had to search through. This wasn't due to anything VFP related, but the fingerprint compare operation itself. I also ended up getting false matches quite often.
About a year ago, I tried a new SDK from a company called Griaule. Their SDK is free (you pay to license it on each machine), it works with several different readers, they actually have VFP examples, and it's _really_ fast. They claim 30,000 compare operations per second.
If you want to write your app using VFP, I would take a serious look at the Griaule product.
