Title:
Not only that, the sunroof visor acted alone
Does anyone else think the multiple shifting accounts of Benazir Bhutto's assassination are suspicious? Sometimes we only find out later that we were hoodwinked. In this case we know from the start. The only question is who?
I have been reading the news reports and have learned a lot more about her than I knew when she was alive. She was quite a remarkable woman. She was born into privilege and could be haughty, barking at aides for passing a hand in front of her. She went to Harvard and then Oxford, where she was an anomaly as a female Arabic president of the Oxford Union. The pictures of her make her look like a westernized young lady. Certainly not unattractive. She entered politics after her father, a former prime minister, was hanged by the military regime then in power. She was prime minister twice, the first female leader of a Muslim nation. She was accused of corruption during her rule, charges that have not been refuted. A very complicated woman. A very complicated person.
She returned to Pakistan this fall amidst massive unrest. She said in interviews she knew was a target and could be killed. Kill her they tried to on her return festival. Dozens were killed in the explosion but she survived. She continued on to criticize Musharraf for the state of emergency, which he lifted under pressure, and to run for PM in the elections that were scheduled for next month. She died with her head sticking out of a sunroof, her hand waving to the crowd.
Who did it? Maybe we will never know.
