>>>>That's in the Bible in John 9:1-3. However, back during the time, it was a common belief that a baby could sin while still in the womb (or so I've read numerous times). Also, wasn't the idea of original sin not around until much later during Augustine when he made a statement about original sin being the fault of the first man (Adam) which makes it more of a hereditary sin.

>>>Great. Just like my grandmother used to say, "people were stupid back then".

>>What do you mean, "back then"? There are still people who believe in original sin.

>The same people give Disney Oscars for "original film music". When was the last time word original had its original meaning of being original, i.e. new and different, or applied to the case at hand, is there anything original in having sex? It's been invented long before we had brains.

I think there has been some discussion about whether the original sin was related to sex or not, but there is no evidence that it is so.

The main point about original sin, I think, is that somehow - perhaps simply through disobedience to a command - sin was instroduced for the first time to the World, and that (supposedly, according to some) this sin was "inherited" to all mankind.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
