I know for me, that after having VFP yanked out from under me by Microsoft, if I move to VS2008 using WinForms as I convert my VFP LOB app to VS (over the next year or so, so that I can keep it on a modern development tool), and then after 2-3 years Winforms really does die, and I then see that I should have been using WPF all along, I will be very MAD!!

I think I'll spend most of the first year moving from VFP tables free tables to SQL Server, and then use Mere Mortals to build up my business objects layer, and maybe before I start the UI, there will be better direction on WPF vs. WinForms.
