When I was in college, I started a phase where it was OK to drive drunk. I got away with it 2 nights in a row and had a blast those nights. I could get drunk for cheap in my dorm room, drive to the bar where my friends were at, and drive to a few house parties. All the money I saved too...

The morning after my second night, I received a call that my long time friend from high school was killed in a car accident and it was suspected he had been drinking. The lady in the other car was paralyzed as a result. I still really haven't shaken that one off yet.

Well, I'm glad to hear that nothing ever happened while you were driving (I'm assuming that nothing ever happened).

My freshman year in high school, I made friends with this guy named Joey. I was pretty much a loner, coming from a middle school that made up less than 5% of the high school. Even though Joey was the same age, he "knew the ropes" of high school, and helped me out with several things, including getting in with 2 sports and getting the other kids to accept me. He was a character, and a leader, and everyone loved him.

End of freshman year, just three days before summer vacation, Joey was fishing off a bridge - a maniac drunk driver went flying through, lost control, and literally ran Joey over. To make matters worse, the driver had previously been charged with drunk driving. Hours later, we all lost a good friend. I didn't talk for weeks, because I was so completely stunned.

So I was influenced long before I ever got behind a wheel. As a matter of fact, some of the worst arguments I ever had with my father were over drunk driving, with ME playing the role of the conservative. I felt the guy who killed Joey should have gotten life in prison.

So the most I ever drink if I'm driving is two bottles of Guinness, and that's only if I'm eating a good-size meal.
