A coworker of mine had the same experience on I95. There was a tractor trailer accident ahead and he was the last one in line stopped. A lady was tootling along not paying attention and had to drive into the ditch to avoid rear-ending him. He was never hit. Then of course, there were even more accidents following that one.

I could tell he wasn't slowing down, and when he got closer I could see that he was actually reading a paperback book while he was driving. He didn't stop in time and had to do a last minute swerve onto the shoulder to miss me. I was almost hoping he would lose it and go in the ditch, because I would have been all over that when the cops came.
