You can use free MS VPC to install and run Vista under WinXP.

>We've all heard about the display "quirks" that VFP programs might display on Vista (e.g. borders not displaying properly) and the various solutions around some of these problems. Aside from getting Vista, is there any way in WinXP (perhaps by display driver settings) that might duplicate or emulate these quirks (so that testing and verification of fixes can be performed under XP)?
>Admittedly it's an odd request, but it arises partly because it's tough trying to sell the idea to the boss of getting a brand-new computer(*see note*) with an OS that's guaranteed to not to work with the file server (it's running an older copy of Novell Netware) -- simply for testing purposes (since it's not going to work with the existing file server). Although the file server compatibility will be mooted once we replace the server -- but that's a ways off. Got really close to selling him on the idea of replacing the file server -- until I told him about the additional client access licenses, as well as recommendation to replace serveral workstations (as they are running XP Home -- something that I had opposed getting in the first place).

>(*note to above*) Although I could upgrade a couple workstations to meet "recommended" specifications given by Microsoft, I wouldn't bother. Previous experience has shows that "minimum required" is really "sure, the OS will run on this computer, but trying to run application software is another story" and the "recommended" actually means "yep, you can run the OS *and* run applications -- having them run acceptably fast is another story".
