Ack! Phooey! (frantically scraping tongue to rid onself of bad taste left from having dealt with compatibility issues with dongles)
Back when folks still had parallel ports on their computers, those parallel dongles often resulted in weird problems if someone actually wanted to use the port for something (e.g. printer, external drive, other dongles, etc.) -- or when the OS manufacturer decides that the parallel port shall not be used for anything other than printers... Then the parallel port gets phased out in favor of USB, and 'cause it's all plug-and-play and we don't have to deal with those problems, right? Not quite... Now you're dealing with situations where depending on if someone is using a USB hub or not, or depending on other devices you've got on the USB port it sometimes works and sometime doesn't... or if it's USB 1.0, USB 1.1 or 2.0?
