Printing Bibles in China
Just heard a small story on this on CNN.
A publisher was interviewed and I was struck by a particular turn of phrase he used.
Explaining why they had sent the work to China he said "In China labour is more available. That makes the cost of producing the books much more reasonable.".
"more available"?????? I guess he just couldn't say much much much much much much CHEAPER.
I bet that there are plenty of availabe workers in he U.S. who would be happy to have the work. Trouble is, they are not tightly controlled by the State, expect sensible working conditions, require practical benefits, etc. I will be long pushing daisies before any Chinese factory worker has *any* of that stuff!
