>I want to get a used pickup in the next couple months. Want something no more than 5 years old, but don't want to spend the money on anything that just came out in the last year or two unless it is an incredible value. Looking for good gas milage, value and reliability mostly. Power and 4-wheel drive, etc isn't that big of a deal. Any recommendations?

I picked up a 1998 Dodge Dakota 4X4 ext cab v8 with everything last spring for $3500. I love it. I'm 6'2" so legroom ruled out Rangers etc. Sort of in a class by itself, not quite as big as F150, Ram etc.

If your under 6' Ranger may be a good choice - there are a lot of them out there and your selection should be large, even in Outer Mongolia.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
