Because Microsoft cannot charge a `per seat` license fee for Visual Foxpro. An old customer of mine once had 250 users on a Visual Foxpro application and database I built.
Revenue for Microsoft : $500.
This is not strategic for MS.

We all knew by 1999 that MS was going with SQL Server as its enterprise strength data storage method.
Therefore, the entire XBase paradigm was doomed because the database was being relegated to 2nd class status and deservedly so.
Therefore, we knew 9 or 10 years ago it was only a matter of time before VFP was shelved.
That time has come.
Evolve or go the way of the dinosaur.

There are lots of great Linux software development kits out there.
Pick One and start learning.

C# with SQLServer 2005 is the MS way to build enterprise strength data centric applications.

Learning C# was rough at first... but now I'm cranking out new apps and having a good time.

Bill Gates and Microsoft do not owe you a living. They are a profit maximizing entity.
Govern yourself accordingly
and
GOOD LUCK!!!
