Thank you, I will look it up and get it. OK, I found the problem:

1. Northwind wasn't installed (who needs it)
2. My test database was not in MSSQL\Data folder (it was else where)
3. Copied my mdf file into MSSQL\Data folder

Now I can open without path. Boy, sometimes the problems are really stupid!

But the ".\sqlexpress" was the key, thank you. I owe you one.
