When creating a shortcut on a user's desktop for an application residing on an NT server, I attempted to place \\server_name\directory\sub_dir\app.exe into the target field of the shortcut. After saving the properties, Windows 95 is erasing or truncating the target field, thus preventing the shortcut from working. Even when we locate the file with the Browse button (thru network neighborhood), when we choose the file and click next, we get the message "The file \\server_name\directory\sub_dir\app.exe cannot be found". I have rights to the server and application files, and can successfully execute the above command line from Start->Run or the Command Prompt. The same shortcut works correctly under Windows NT 4.0. I also tried copying a valid .lnk file with the UNC from our NT machine, and the target was again truncated in Windows 95. We are currently running service pack 1 on our 95 machine.

Any ideas?
