I wouldn't trust MS much as far as standards are concerned. I think we'd end up in a tail wagging the dog situation. Remember their failure as a participant in the Java community several years ago.
Rule of thumb, if a vendor makes money from a software tool, or its derivatives, they have to try and maximize their profit. With MS their primary objective is keep hundreds of millions using Windows as much as possible -- as opposed to keeping a few thousand geeks happy. I understand them wanting to eliminate VFP since it impacts SQL sales. OTOH, I can't understand the pain they're putting the VB community through. Seems they consider developers hapless subjects they can shuffle at will. I'm sure they won't miss me if I shuffle off in another direction.
