>I have a checkbox with a numeric (1/0) data source from an outer join in a SQL. A number of records then have a .null. value for the checkbox data source. What I don't understand is why the checkbox shows checked on the .null. values. I used nvl(field, 0) to change the value in the cursor but why?

When you have:
1 - CheckBox is Checked with "V"
0 - CHeckBox is empty
NULL - whole square of the CheckBox is filled, so you can recognize when you have NULL.
