Hi Samuel:
I defer to your judgment as to the difficulty. I know the boring parts can be so unexciting they also become the most difficult. Sometimes I say "Oh hell, that'll be easy" and the only accurate part is "Hell!". OTOH, your project is definitely on my (and I bet lots of other) radar screen. I have too many hours and dollars invested in code to do a rewrite if it isn't necessary. Aside from that it isn't that uncommon for a third party to pick up where an original vendor dropped off continue breathing life into a development tool for many many years.
As many would say, my prayers are with you . . . or

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a future for VFP?
My friends all drive .NET, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a future without a rewrite?

Apologies to Janis Joplin.
