Michael Cummings did a book "Visual FoxPro 9 for Developers" that was available on Lulu, but isn't anymore.
He can be contacted via his e-mail listed in the members area. Perhaps he could get the guy a copy somehow.
Strange thing is that there is another VFP on Lulu that uses the exact same cover, but has a different title and author:
